Story
This year's big cycling plans obviously got shelved, and pretty much my training went with it, and therefore so did any fundraising. However, while starting to make plans for next year I found out Myeloma UK are running a virtual London2Paris event where you can simply ride the distance over the course of a month, and a daft idea was born... ofcourse I'm not going to do it over a month, I"m going to do it in 24hrs, because I realised that I've still probably done more training than when we did the London2Paris 24hr rides back in the day. So this weekend (August 8-9) I will be riding The Lockdown L2P24 in my garden and paincave, after I've taken Theo for a walk first on Saturday morning, obvs. Looking at the weather forecast I might even stay dry, from rain at least, but not sweat. Thanks to some clever bits of kit I can simulate the route profile either for the route we took in 2014. Pedalling gets harder on the virtual climbs and easier on the descents, and by the time I 'reach' Paris I will have done 316miles and 3600m of climbing, including virtually pedalling across the Chanel. And then I'll have to take Theo for his Sunday morning walk. So, fundraising.... Myeloma UK for this and our rescheduled big challenge next year. They are the only charity dedicated to patient support and research specifically for Multiple Myeloma, a form of currently incurable blood/bone marrow cancer which my dad and another friend of mine are suffering. I appreciate that times are hard right now, I know that all to well, so any donation at all will be hugely appreciated by me and by Myeloma UK
