Running in memory of my grandad, and for everyone living with dementia 💛
About
🏃‍♀️ Taking on a challenge for The Corstorphine Dementia Project 💛 In a couple of weeks, I’ll be taking part in the Devilla Forest 8 Hour Challenge with NU Limits and I’ve decided to turn it into something even more meaningful. This isn’t just a run… it’s 8 hours of running loops through Devilla Forest (each lap is 4.3 miles 😅), seeing how far I can push myself both physically and mentally. But I’d love it to also make a difference. We’re currently working towards creating a new home for our Jubilee Club at The Corstorphine Dementia Project, a space that will be safe, welcoming and truly dementia-friendly. This cause is really personal to me. Like so many people, I’ve experienced what dementia can do to someone you love. My grandad was a huge part of my life, and I watched the disease take him from us bit by bit. I was incredibly fortunate to later get a job at The Corstorphine Dementia Project, the very place he used to attend and now I get to support others who are living with this every day. It means a lot to me to be able to give something back. So I’m asking, if you’re able, to sponsor me, with all money going towards helping us adapt and set up our new premises. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards creating a space where people living with dementia can feel supported, connected and valued 💛 Honestly… I don’t quite know how many laps I’ll manage yet, but I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got! And even if you can’t donate, a share or a bit of encouragement would mean just as much. Thank you so much 💛 Karen
