On July 14th I'll be taking part in the famous Race to the Stones. A 62 mile ultra marathon set over 2 days along the Ridgeway and ending at Avebury Stones. Setting off on day one I'll cover 31 miles along the hilly, off road route before stopping at the base camp for some much needed food and a few hours sleep. Day 2 Will be an early start covering the same distance all the way to the finish. As part of their upcoming 100 year centenary, I have chosen The Bradby Club in Rugby to fund raise for after witnessing first hand the hard work and effort the staff put in to help young people from the surrounding area. Although a youth club, they have become so much more than that offering a range of services and activities to support young people in their journey into adulthood. They still offer nightly open access youth club sessions 3 nights a week for the young people of Rugby and District. In addition to this they provide a Substance Misuse Service for young people and a Safer Relationships and Sexual Health Service with both supporting young people directly and also delivering workshops to Schools and other youth provisions. Young carers in Rugby can access support there through Warwickshire Young Carers who deliver sessions every Tuesday at the Centre. Other services for young people include: Rugby Young Parents Group, Rugby Boxing Academy and community gym facilities.
