Historia

Malai Association UK (MAUK) is a network for Diaspora Malawian nationals and friends of Malawi. We offer members connection and support. After torrential rain across Malawi, over 200,000 people have been displaced by flooding. Hundreds of people have died and huge areas in the south are underwater. Homes, crops and livestock have been washed away. Worst affected are the southern districts of Nsanje, Chikwawa, Phalombe and Zomba. In one district alone, over 1,400 homes have been cut off and await rescue. People urgently need tents, blankets, food and clean water. The Government of Malawi has declared a State of Emergency.

Eliza Gift, 21, of Chimbulika village in Nsanje district said, ‘Within an hour, the whole area where there were villages, our gardens and schools became a lake. We saw people being swept away as I, my husband and child, clung to a tree for two days. “There are still people stranded out there on higher places. It’s a desperate situation.”

Imagine everything you owned had been swept away by dirty water.

You can help these people in Malawi.

Donate to the Malawi Association UK Emergency Flood Appeal today. We will pass funds to our partner 'EMMS International', working in Blantyre and Mulanje.

Funds given before 31 January 2015 will attract 25% gift aid, and be doubled by the UK government.Every 1 you give, means people in Malawi get over 2.
