I’m Marie and I am getting my head shaved to raise money for Sheffield M.E and Fibromyalgia Group.
I’ve toyed with the idea of shaving my head for many years, but never quite had the nerve. But now, at the age of 68, I have! Perhaps getting old has made me care less about what other people think.
I’m doing it to coincide with the #MillionsMissing week of action. I’ve had M.E. for over 20 years, and having spent a long time ill in bed and housebound I know how painful it is to be invisible. Especially in the devastating early years of illness, the Group has been invaluable to me for information and support. Thanks to their and others’ help with benefits, I was eventually able to pay for carers, taxis etc, which improved the quality of my life enormously. At times I’ve been able to join in with some of the activities on offer – I like anything arty. The singing was wonderful! I enjoy the newsletter and Facebook group.
Many thanks to the workers Elyane and Ellie for their help with organizing the fundraising. I couldn’t do it without you! Now all I have to do it sit back and wait for the clippers...
