Can we get me to stay up for 24 hours??
About
PICK MY BRAIN ON 3RD AUGUST! JOIN ME ON ZOOM >>> https://bit.ly/coproama ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In a nutshell: I'm planning to spend some time online answering any and all questions about co-production*. How long can you get me to stay up doing this? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The deets: Every pound put in the pot will cover 1 minute of me being online. Anyone can jump in and have a chat or ask a question about co-production*. You're essentially buying my time on behalf of the wider community. Of course, *you* can jump in to the call yourself and pick my brains too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My being online for a while should hopefully give everyone, regardless of their schedules and commitments, a chance to hop in and have a chat at a point convenient for them. There might be times when no-one's on the call with me: during those stretches I'll add items to the Co-production Knowledge Base, sketch out some diagrams I've had in my head for a while, and generally add to the available co-production resources online. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But why?! I hear you ask. Well, I've been involved in this co-production* lark for many years now, and I'm always happy to chat about it. People find it helpful when I do, so they tell me. The Co-production Network for Wales** needs some funding. I thought I would combine all of the above. Also: the idea tickled me and I figured I should do it before I get too old to be pulling all nighters. (I'm not far off. This may be my last.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When is this happening? Monday 3rd August 2020. If we raise between 0 and 12 hours' worth of funding, I shall start at 8am and run through till the time is up. If we raise over 12 hours (i.e. £721 and above) I shall start at 6 am and then run through. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So the big question is... (drumroll): CAN WE GET ME TO STAY UP 24 HOURS? Do you think? Achievable? Maybe? We could do this together, right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Small print, wildest dreams etc but you never know - if we raise over £1,440 I will still stop after 24 hours, i.e. 6am on Tuesday morning, because this is already nuts but also fun, but if I go over 24 hours it will start not being fun any more. And people whose opinion I care about have said not to because they worry about my wellbeing and they are right.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What about breaks? Apart from stepping away from the call for comfort breaks, I WILL BE THERE. I'll stock up on snacks and drinks and a jumper and whatever I might need so it's all to hand. You may even witness a bonus visit from my resident cat housemate and cuddlebug, Thomas O'Malley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tech details: it will be on zoom, because we have a paid account and we'll set it up secure and everything. There will be a number of options to jump onto the call, including simply dialing in by telephone, so everyone should be able to join me regardless of device permissions and data availability. If you do think of potential accessibility challenges though, give me a shout and we'll figure it out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * What is co-production? If you've not come across the term before: it's a way of working in public services that involves people who use the services, on a par with the professionals, working together to make things better. Snapshot here: https://info.copronet.wales/co-production-definition-and-principles/, or simply come and ask during the call ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** What is the Co-production Network for Wales? An independent non-profit organisation that supports a community of practice around the concept of co-production. We have members from all sectors of public services, charities and government and more, predominantly in Wales but not exclusively (especially in these times of online everything). We're basically a bunch of people who think co-production is a good idea and support each other to learn and progress with it. Because of reasons (including serious wider world reasons) the Network is not currently funded, so I thought I'd get a bit of extra cash into the coffers to cover the running costs, software subscriptions, accountancy fees, etc. And also actually to cover some time writing funding applications so we can get funded again! There is much to be done, collectively, that doesn't bring in money like community management, influencing policy, research and developing resources, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [Givey's small print: Thank you for checking out this Givey page.
