About
Help send Orbitron to Africa!

Many of you will already have heard about 'Chip Kendall and the Praise Ship Orbitron' - our all-age, space-themed, family praise party roadshow based in Manchester, England. Maybe you've even attended one of our events. Well now you can be a part of helping us to 'blast off' even further... to Africa!

We have a great partnership opportunity with Feed The Hungry UK, an organisation that feeds 297,000 children daily across 26 countries, to go out to one of their projects in Kibera, Kenya.

Amazingly, we've had an anonymous donor offer to match-fund every pound of our target raised, so please give knowing that every little bit goes a long way. We really do sense that God's hand is already on this project, and we know that if He is faithful to start the work, He'll be faithful to complete it.

Chip and Georgie will be working alongside a team of volunteers for an entire week, delivering a programme for 10-14 year olds in Kibera slum, culminating with a full Orbitron show on the Friday. Plus, we will be filming a couple music videos with Feed the Hungry for the hit songs 'Love Your World' and 'I'm a Hero'.

MORE INFO ON THE MISSION:

There are approximately 2.5 million slum dwellers in about 200 settlements in Nairobi Kenya representing 60% of the Nairobi population and occupying just 6% of the land. Kibera houses about 250,000 of these people. Kibera is the biggest slum in Africa and one of the biggest in the world. Feed The Hungry are feeding around 1,200 children in Kibera each day in partnership with Chris and Joanna Okumu who are church pastors and who have worked in Kibera for over 30 years. These guys are in it for the long haul! Faithful in the hands of God, as well as leading a Church, they have founded 3 schools, a medical centre, a safe house of boarding for teenage girls and a clean water production enterprise.

Feed the Hungry are taking some mission teams out to help serve the heart and vision of this amazing couple. Orbitron will be joining in with part of the mission. We will be running a programme each day for 10-14 year olds who live in Kibera slum (a place of great darkness) and where these young people are at their most vulnerable. Around this age many are not able to continue in education (that is, if they have attended school at all) and are expected to labour for money. This transition means they spend more time in the slum, and can find themselves the victims and perpetrators of crime as they are exposed to more darkness. Stealing, Alcohol and drug use (as well as sexual exploitation) are hard pressing issues they will face.

We will be ministering to these pre-teens and teenagers each day, helping equip them to be the light in the darkness - to be strong in the struggles and stand up against the darkness - to shine bright and carry the spirit of a warrior. We are believing that as Chris and Joanna continue to work with these young people, God will raise up an army, and that this generation will not be lost.

This is our prayer as we go, and as we minister Jesus to them. We pray they will become everything this scripture says...

Philippians 2 Verse 14 -16 (The Message)

"Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light -giving message into the night. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing."

Our call becomes their call!

As well as running this programme each day, we will be doing an Orbitron family roadshow to finish the week and see lives transformed! Additionally, we will be filming a few songs out there in Kibera with some of these children and young people. Our hope is that these will be used on our return, to help share the work of Feed The Hungry UK in schools and churches.

Orbitron is privileged to get to be a part of this but we need people to help us make this trip possible, would you consider becoming part of the story of hope and transformation and partner with us in some way to see this mission and vision come to pass. Can you play a part in our journey as we step out in faith and into Africa?
