Inspiring political engagement through radical history
Story
We celebrate the 1839 Newport Rising, when 5000 Chartists from Newport and the Valleys of South East Wales fought, marched and died for the right to vote. We want to reinstate this neglected story in Welsh and British history, make people proud it happened in Newport and inspire them to become active citizens, participating together in our modern democratic systems.
