Lisa Lort is raising £200 for Pavilion Dance South West Parkinsons
About
I'm lacing up my running shoes once again, this time to light up the night in support of something truly close to my heart: dance for wellbeing. At our beautiful dance house by the sea, I have the joy of working with some truly inspiring communities. Through the power of movement, music, and connection, we help people living with chronic conditions find joy, strength, and support. This run is for them. ✨ Every single penny raised will go directly to support our Parkinson’s Dance and Groove to Improve classes – specially designed dance sessions for: 🕺 People living with Parkinson’s 💃 Older adults living with chronic lower back pain These programmes aren’t just classes – they’re lifelines. They offer physical and emotional wellbeing, a deep sense of belonging, and a joyful space to move freely and feel supported. “The best Friday afternoons ever – always different, always fun and a feeling of relaxation as well as hard work of course. Laughter and happy times.” – Parky Dancer. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition affecting over 145,000 people in the UK – and that number is growing. Our Parkinson’s Dance classes blend movement, creativity, and community in a way that lifts the spirit while easing symptoms. They are fun, empowering, and full of life. “Initially I was concerned that working on the back in a focussed way could lead to injuries... but the teachers guided us gently, and there was no pressure. I’ve left keen to dance some free-form routines at home between classes!” – Groove to Improve Dancer Back pain is the leading cause of disability in the UK. Our Groove to Improve sessions help people manage pain, move more mindfully, and reconnect with their bodies through guided, accessible dance. This is still a growing programme – and your support will help us reach more people, develop the classes further, and make dance accessible to even more communities who need it. Let’s dance, move, and make a difference – together.
