Sri Lanka is suffering its worst economic disaster since gaining Independence in 1948. Inflation is at a record 39%, this means that everyday items such as vegetables, cooking oil, school stationary have more than doubled in price, the country is facing medicine and s=food shortages and everyday life is impacted by power cuts. Shortages of fuel are causing bus services to stop running. Children and youth in Sri Lanka have never experienced such hardship and challenge. Many children living on the edge of poverty have been throorwn into life living on the edge, as parents struggle to find work and see their daily costs rise by 39%.
