Sponsoring Academic And Medical Access

SAAMA is a small charity that supports a local community in the Village of Wullinkamma in The Gambia. We have no admin costs so 100% of your donation goes to the community . The local nursery is run by the charity and provides care for approx 160 children. We also help to support the Lower basic school for over 1000 children up to the age of 12 years. We are currently having 6 new classrooms built which will double that number! Our newest project , The Arribaja Clinic, provides medical care for the local community, including free healthcare to all children at the village nursery and school. The clinic also hosts monthly mother and baby clinics where babies get their vaccinations, and healthchecks and has its own lab for malaria testing. Our biggest achievement to date is our programme supporting motherless babies with baby milk. Many mothers die during or shortly after childbirth and our programme helps to ensure these babies can be allowed to stay with their extended family by providing powdered baby milk, sterilising equipment and education for the families. Every Friday the clinic can see on average 35 babies and their carers and supply formula, sterilising equipment, donated nappies and clothes etc. The babies are monitored weekly until they are 12 months of age, to ensure that they remain well. Individual child sponsorships for nursery children are available , as well as sponsoring of days out, breakfasts/ lunches and nursery/school equipment. We are also always in need of donations for medications, baby milk, lab equipment etc at the clinic. Please see facebook page for details. https://www.facebook.com/groups/199029231789 TO DONATE TO BABY MILK PLEASE CLICK ON FUNDRAISER BELOW
