About

I'm joining the Wheely Tots team for the Space Race to help reach our target of covering 507 miles by running, walking or cycling during August. That's the distance to the International Space Station and back again.

I feel really proud to support Wheely Tots as its CEO. Running a charity its tough and I've always found it difficult to ask people to do something that I wouldn't be prepared to do myself. This is the first ever time I've fundraised for our own cause, all motivated by Laura's fantastic idea and her team at Sage making such a kind offer of support. I'm also a bit injured at the moment and trying to figure out how I'm actually going to cover distance as running isn't an option, walking might be ok and some gentle cycling my best bet. Plus most of my time now is devoted to sitting behind a desk I'm about as physically unfit as I could be. I'm looking forward to see if I can take on a challenge and knowing the good stuff we can do with the monies we raise and the desire to be a bit fitter by the end of August is what I hope will keep me going.

Each £100 raised will fund:

- a balance bike & 20 minute walking / cycling session for a local vulnerable family to improve their health & wellbeing and sense of family connectedness

- repairs for a bike to allow a key worker to avoid public transport and feel happier about their commute

- a 2 hour walking / cycling session for an adult or family: this improves confidence, creates a positive micro community interaction and helps people keep on with their walking and cycling
