Story
I first got involved in afforestation and conservation work in the 1970ties and it quickly became a life long interest and periodic activity. I want to support the work of Forus Tree, a not-for-profit social enterprise and workers Co-operative working towards mitigating the effects of climate change and restoring biodiversity in the Yorkshire Calder valley region (notorious for repeated major flooding incidents in recent years). Forus Tree plant, manage and protect woodland, wildflower and wildlife habitats as well as anti-flooding conservation projects. So far in 2020, the Forus Tree crew planted 22821 trees and "build" 26 "leaky dams" with living willow cuttings alongside other conservation work. The Forus Trees crew do an amazing job with the project funding they receive but lack equipment (which is not included in project funding). This fundraiser aims to enable them to acquire specialist tools and equipment and hopefully a 2nd hand 4wheel drive vehicle to make transportation of materials to remote work sites easier.
