Iain Ogilvie is raising £1,500 for St Wilfrid's Ottringham
About
In 2024, St Wilfrid's Parish Church, Ottringham, was placed on the Heritage at Risk register. The 2023 inspection confirmed several issues affecting the Grade I listed building. The key problems are damp and water ingress: the roof has reached the end of its useful life, and the base of the walls are damp due to drainage directly onto clay soil. As a result, the South Porch has shifted, and its roof joist has separated from the main building, closing access through the South door. Despite being a small congregation, we are well integrated into village life and have received enthusiastic support to address the at-risk status. The South Porch entrance is via an internal 14th-century wicket door, and protecting this historic feature has guided our planning. This will not only secure St Wilfrid’s heritage, but also preserve and promote its vital role in shaping local identity and community life. Please support our Church community and Village to maintain our heritage and spiritual core, thank you for your donation. Thank you for visiting our Givey page.
