This fundraiser is for a project very close to my heart: rehabilitation and physiotherapy in rural Malawi with the NGO Ripple Africa. Later this year, I’ll spend one month in Malawi working alongside the country’s only local physiotherapist in the region. It’s worth mentioning that there's a significant shortage of physiotherapists in Malawi, with only 240 professionals compared to the country's population of 21 million. I will join the Disability and Rehabilitation Project in Malawi between September and October and we will deliver treatments and support children with cerebral palsy, clubfoot, and developmental delays; we will help adults recovering from strokes, injuries, and chronic pain and train local carers and community volunteers so the care continues after I leave. In many cases, these children and adults have no access to regular therapy, meaning preventable disabilities become lifelong challenges.
