About
On September 12th, We will be joining 220 other boats to take on the Great River Race—a 21.6-mile rowing challenge from Millwall to Ham. We’re a crew from Trinity House non professional rowers doing it to raise funds for Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre—a brilliant East London charity that offers accessible, high-quality outdoor adventures such as kayaking, sailing, climbing, mountain biking and outstanding leadership training for young people. Each year, the centre reaches thousands of local young people, many from disadvantaged backgrounds in Tower Hamlets—the local authority with the highest rate of child poverty in the UK. In today’s tough economic climate, fundraising has become harder than ever for the small, amazing team that keeps Shadwell running. Yet the work they do is now more vital than ever, giving young people the chance to build confidence, skills, and brighter futures through the outdoors. Any support—whether a few pounds or a cheer at the finish line—would mean the world. Please tick the gift aid box if you can. Thanks in advance from Crew skipper Joe Lane Coxswain Rebecca Witting Mark Francis Mark Smith Vincent Canning John Graham Ben Thompson And our passenger Marriane Fredericks
