Creating a stage in any space.
Story

Troubadour Stageworks was founded in 2017, with the aim of enabling creative ideas and creating a stage in any space.

We have performed in venues ranging from London’s West End and the Edinburgh Fringe, to the Wilds of Wiltshire and a 14th century crypt in Bristol. We were inspired by the Troubadours of old, who travelled the world performing for communities in the venues at their heart; churches, town squares, gardens, (and sometimes even theatres). We tell stories which reconnect us with where we are, with history and culture, and, most importantly, with our imaginations. Not only does this approach allow us to revitalise forgotten community spaces, it also removes one of the most crippling expenses for the theatre industry: the venue itself. We create freedom by not relying on lighting cues, or sound effects: every performance will be unique and its own.

There is no wealthy backer here, and ticket sales cover only half the cost of our work. Every penny donated each year by our wonderful supporters means we can continue to develop, support and create new stories for forgotten places. Your gift could introduce generations of new audiences to theatre across the country, develop the careers of hundreds of performers and industry professionals, enable children and rural communities to participate in this art we love so much, and so much more!
