The Belfast Metropolitan College Charitable Trust (the Trust), operates to help students overcome barriers to success at Belfast Metropolitan College (Belfast Met). The Trust is a small charity that supports important initiatives which the College is not funded to deliver. We are focusing on addressing serious barriers to learning, many of these stemming from poverty, particularly during the cost of living crisis. So, if you can support us, here is what we will do with the funds.
• We want to provide emergency support to students in crisis, such as transport vouchers for students unable to pay their bus fare to get to college, or for basic necessities such as food and hygiene needs.
• We want to support asylum seekers and refugees tackle barriers to their further and higher education, helping them prepare for a new life as full members of our society. Many are highly qualified, but need to convert their knowledge to our system, and improve their English. They are not entitled to any support of this nature, and have minimal means to live and learn on
• We want to support and develop student volunteering within and across the College. We know this area of student activities generates opportunities for volunteers themselves, but also supports significant benefits for the wider student population.
Whilst the shopping list is long - we can do a lot with very little and every single penny goes to support students. None of this funding will go towards administration or staff costs, it will go directly towards supporting students.
We really need your help to continue this vital work. Please donate generously. You will be helping the next generation achieve success, contribute to a vibrant and successful future for our city and enrich the futures of many young people.
