650 Miles 32 Counties 5 Days For Charity
Story

The people of Termonmaguirc are on the move again and as usual all in aid of good causes. In 2009 eighteen hardy souls spend ten gruelling days on foot from Cork to Carrickmore raising tremendous funds to benefit cancer charities. That group were emulating a similar enterprise twenty five years earlier that raised much needed funds for an equally worthy cause. The 2016 model of the fund raising endeavour is now on the road. This year’s group may have the benefit of wheels, but still the project is no less punishing. BETWEEN THE 12TH AND 16TH JULY 2016. 13 TERMONMAGUIRC CYCLISTS WILL TAKE ON THE MOUNTMENTAL TASK OF CYCLING THROUGH THE 32 COUNTIES OF IRELAND IN 5 DAYS, A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 130 MILES PER DAY BACK TO BACK TO MAKE UP A COMBINED TOTAL DISTANCE OF 650 MILES.. THE AIM OF THIS CYCLE WILL BE TO RAISE MUCH NEEDED FUNDS FOR 2 GREAT LOCAL CHARTIES AND THIS EVENT WILL BE TOTALLY FUNDED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS TAKING PART, WHICH INCLUDE CYCLISTS AND BACK UP TEAMS.. ALL MONEY RASIED BY SPONSORSHIP WILL GO DIRECTLY TO BOTH CHARITIES.. TERMONMAGUIRC CANCER PATIENTS FUND receives charitable donations and distributes that money to cancer patients registered with Carrickmore Health Centre/or living in the Parish of Termonmaguirc. The beneficiary can decide how the money is spent. Infrequently the organistion may pay for alternative therapies on behal of the cancer patient, make a financial contribution towards the purchase of equipment to support the care of cancer patients, or make a financial contribution to other organisations providing care to cancer patients from the target area. All work is carried out on a voluntary basis. (Registered Charity Number NIC 103643). TERMONMAGUIRC FRIENDLY CARE GROUP. Is a voluntary self-help organisation established in 1985 to enhance the lives of the physically disabled, those with learning disabilities and their carer’s, in the Termonmaguirc area. (Carrickmore,Loughmacrory and Creggan). The group caters for all ages and meets regularly to discuss mutual problems and provide support, advice and encouragement to individuals affected by disability issues. The friendly care group operates on a voluntary basis and does not receive any Government funding, so is entirely dependent upon community fundraising. (Registered Charity Number XR 24388). THESE CHARITIES HAVE TOUCHED THE LIVES OF MANY INDIVIUALS AND FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED IN SOME WAY. THEY RELY ON DONATIONS. WITH YOUR GENEROUS HELP THEY CAN CONTINUE WITH THEIR FANTASTIC WORK..
